Diary of a Final Year Student
By Odimfe Favour
When people say “the student in me has graduated”, I didn’t fully understand until recently. Tired is an understatement for my situation but this is the final lap and I have to run it.
Sincerely I did not know what to expect when we resumed from the festive break but it was clear that there will be a truckload of academic work; assignments, presentations, tests etc. A bridge that we must cross.
Yet, the heaviest cloud hanging over our heads or at least I am sure is hanging over my head is the final year project. Can I say I have started? Yes. Can I say it is moving? No! Indeed it is a dilemma. But as we all say, we move >>>
While we are moving, the boss is waiting for us in front as usual, in the form of the first-semester examination (cries in advanced radio production). This one is not a bridge o! It is a mountain, in fact it is the Red Sea and sadly everybody is their own Moses.
In the midst of all of these, it will be wrong if I don’t mention what brings colours to our gloomy days; friendships. Thank the heavens for friends who make us laugh despite all, constantly making memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
So, yes! I am in the final year of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and till I graduate you all will be hearing from me on this space.
As your Favourite (or not so) final year student in the premier monotechnic, I advice you: Don't forget to work on your assignments and project.
Despite how overwhelming it is, I am positive we will graduate.
