Students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism hold their annual cultural day event for the 2022 Student Week.
The event which is an integral part of the annual 7-day long Student week was done on Wednesday in the school hall.
Students who are from the different cultural tribes across the country represented their tribes through their dressing and performance.

To promote the cultural diversity of Nigeria, the students made different cultural entertainment performances at the occasion.
Adorn in Hausa costumes, some Hausa students in the institute led by the duo of Ibrahim Firdaus and Nura Nadambo who are also presenters of the Hausa cultural programme on the school Pen Radio made a good performance of a Hausa dance to promote the Hausa/Fulani culture.
This was followed by the Igbo culture students led by Chukwuebuka Adizue and Faithful Afamefuna who performed the Igbo cultural dance and acted a stage drama on the Igbo way of marrying a wife. The drama portrayed how the Igbo culture in ancient times celebrate the physical strength and masculinity of a young man when giving their daughter's hand out in marriage.
The Yoruba culture students led by Ajayi Olajumoke and Oyetunde Okikioluwa also performed their cultural dance and acted in a stage play on the story of Sango Olukoso and his wife Oya. The drama written and directed by Oyetunde Okikioluwa portrayed the need for an equally strong partner in life as represented in the story of Sango and Oya. They are powerful beings during their lifetime making them raised to the level of gods after their demise.
Lecturers and guests applaud the students' efforts.
In attendance, as guests of honour, at the occasion were Mr and Mrs Ibrahim and Mr and Mrs Nasir from Niger state, Mr Temitayo Adegbola a Nollywood Yoruba movie expert. Some lecturers of the institute like Mr Femi Osuntoki, Mrs Odum Oruoma, Mr Maureen Popoola, Mr Chritianah Okoh, and Mr Kingsley were also present.
While addressing the students at the event Mr Osuntoki praised the students who worked hard to put the occasion together, saying it is one of the ways they can put what they have learnt in school to work.
He, however, decried the low attendance of students who were very scanty in the hall, he urged them to always support each other, especially on occasions like the Student Week that is specifically made for them.
