2022 NIJ Students' Week: Freshers outshine superiors on sports day

This year's sports day at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) students' week tagged 'Exhale' witnessed the first year students (National Diploma 1) pip their superiors, Higher National Diploma 1, 2-1 in the men's football final of the 2022 Provost Cup on Wednesday, June 22 to clinch the title. The match which was played in the institution's field in Ogba, Lagos, saw the HND 1 team break the deadlock in the first half. Though, the ND 1 team levelled scores few minutes later and even went further to take the lead via a team effort that yielded in a well taken goal.  They were able to maintain their lead and build on the momentum as they held their own to win via a 2-1 scoreline. Exhaling the 11th time - Chronicles Of A Monotechnic's Students Week

        By Teniola Mudashir Oladipupo   'We have definitely evolved' - Odimnfe Favour declared, emphasizing that the activities of the students’ week of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba Lagos is not what it used to be. The annual week-long celebrations involving an array of colourful events come up every May in the academic calendar of Nigeria’s premier monotechnic. Inaugurated in 2011, it has over the years, featured several youthful and educational activities, providing the students with opportunity to have a breathing space away from regular academic routines. HND 2 Class Governor, Gbemile Tosin, championed the 2012 edition. In 2018, Mrs Patricia Kalesanwo who was then the school’s Students Affairs Officer said that the week was of high value to students, adding that “It helps to reduce pressure on the students, in order to help them concentrate better in classes and exams.” – The Eagle.com.ng           ...
